Can I use Google Maps, WhatsApp, Instagram, Spotify in mainland China?
First time heading to China. I rely on these apps to talk to family and navigate. Will they function normally?

These services do not work over local Chinese network without special solutions.

Hotel Wi-Fi is filtered, don’t expect it to load western platforms.
