Are large luggages really safe on train?
Mountain445Shared Aug 22, 2026I cannot wrap my head around how it is acceptable to store larger suitcases in between carriages, completely out of sight, where anyone can just grab one and get off. Given how common pickpocket awareness is, this seems really bizarre in comparison.

It really depends on where you are, but if you are in China it is generally safe. The most realistic risk of “losing” a bag is someone in a rush getting off the train and grabbing yours by mistake because it looks almost identical to theirs. Even if that happens, station staff can help you get it resolved.
When it comes to pickpockets or thieves, it is honestly very safe. The bigger practical concern is keeping luggage clearly identifiable and collecting it promptly at your stop.
