Hi! Which royal banquet and show did you enjoy most, and in which city?
We'll be travelling to Beijing, Xi'an and Chengdu and are trying to decide which city and which show would be best for this experience.

Xi'an is the most natural choice if the goal is an imperial-era themed banquet and performance. Its long history as the capital of multiple dynasties gives the experience clear historical context, and Tang-style music-and-dance shows are particularly associated with the city.
That does not mean Beijing or Chengdu are poor choices: Beijing can suit visitors who want a larger, more theatrical evening, while Chengdu works better if food and Sichuan opera are the priority. Read recent independent reviews, check exactly what the ticket includes, and treat it as entertainment inspired by history rather than a reconstruction of a court meal.
