China Taobao Shopping - Questions -
A visitor asks whether Taobao parcels can safely be delivered to a hotel hall shelving area when reception will not receive or store packages.

I was thinking on buying some things on Taobao and sending them to my hotel :) I asked to the hotel if they can receive packages for me and they said that the hotel reception does not handle the receipt or storage of packages, but they have like a shelving unit on the hotel hall when the packages can be left. Do you think that this will work with Taobao packages?
Please don't tell me not to buy from Taobao :(

Of course you’ll receive it! Just keep in mind that standard delivery in China usually takes about 2 to 3 days, so you'll want to time it carefully—you don't want the package still in transit after you’ve already left. You can ask the Taobao seller directly; they can usually give a pretty accurate delivery estimate.
As for safety, that’s the last thing you need to worry about. Nobody is going to steal your stuff—China is world-class when it comes to package security. The only rare exception is a lost package, which is a low-probability event, but it can happen. Even if it does get lost, sellers will almost always send out a replacement right away.
