Do border control stamp on passport at China? Or is it like Australia/West that they just scan and thats it, all electronic?

I mean when I arrive. Are there self check-in electronic kiosks where I just scan and the gate opens, just like in Sydney?

The self-service kiosks you mentioned are a separate matter from the Chinese entry stamp you asked about. China does have self-service kiosks, yet they are intended for Chinese citizens. Airports also have plenty of self-check-in machines.

As a foreign national, you will get an entry stamp. Later, when checking into hotels, staff may scan the stamped page of your passport as proof of entry for check-in purposes.
