How many days should I give Chengdu and Chongqing without rushing?
I have four or five nights available for Chengdu and Chongqing combined. Is that enough to enjoy both, or would you choose one city and make the trip slower? I like food, neighbourhood walks and one nature day.

Four nights can cover both cities, but it will be a tasting menu rather than a deep visit. If food and neighbourhoods matter most, pick one city and add a nearby day trip.

The rail link is short, so the transfer itself is manageable. The real cost is changing hotels and resetting each day, not the train journey.
