How to book China high speed rail ticket on Trip.com
I tried to go through the booking process once on the Trip.com website using my computer at home before departure. But I’m having trouble doing it on my phone. My first attempt failed, so I need help figuring out how to book the ticket.

Booking China high-speed rail tickets on Trip.com is usually straightforward for international travellers: it supports standard cards, shows station names in English and handles real-name registration.
1. Search your route
- Open the Trip.com app and choose Trains.
- Set the region to Mainland China.
- Enter departure city, destination and travel date.
- Filter for G, D or C services if you want high-speed trains only.
Major cities have several stations, such as Beijing South and Shanghai Hongqiao, so check which one is closest to your hotel.
2. Pick a train and seat class
- Second Class: standard 3+2 seating, good legroom and usually the best value.
- First Class: quieter 2+2 layout with wider reclining seats.
- Business Class: premium 2+1 seating, often with lie-flat seats.
3. Add passenger details carefully
Choose Passport as the document type and enter your name and passport number exactly as printed. Include middle names where they appear in the passport's machine-readable lines.
4. Seats, payment and boarding
You can request a window or aisle seat, although China Railway assigns the final seat. Trip.com supports common international cards and payment options. No paper ticket is normally needed, but carry your physical passport and use the staffed/manual lane if an automatic gate does not recognise it. Arrive 45-60 minutes early for a first trip.
Booking window: China Railway typically opens official sales 15 days before departure. Trip.com can accept pre-orders earlier and tries to purchase when official sales open.
