Hi, I'll be going to Beijing and would like to make progressive glasses. I've heard of the famous Panjiayuan Glasses City. Is there a recommended shop there? I can speak Chinese, so language is not a problem.

I cannot personally vouch for one specific Panjiayuan shop, so I would avoid choosing only from a name online. For progressive lenses, the important part is the measurement and after-sales process: bring your current prescription, ask for a fresh eye test and fitting measurements, and make sure the shop explains the lens brand, index, coating, warranty and expected collection time in writing.
Optical shops are widespread in Chinese cities and can be good value, but progressive lenses are more sensitive to fitting than simple single-vision glasses. Compare at least two quotes, keep the invoice, and leave enough time for adjustments before departing Beijing. If you feel dizziness or distortion after collection, return promptly for a refit rather than assuming you simply need to get used to them.
