Medical assistance for foreign visitors

Hello, I am travelling with my partner who has some health concerns whilst on our trip through China. Should we encounter a medical emergency, what is the situation for foreign visitors seeking medical assistance? Would we need to pay fees etc?

If this is an emergency, call 120 or ask hotel staff or people nearby to help you reach the nearest emergency department. Foreign visitors can use hospitals in China, but payment or a deposit may be requested before non-critical treatment, so keep your passport, insurance details and a payment card or cash available. For serious or ongoing symptoms, contact your insurer’s assistance line when you can—but do not delay emergency care.
