Spiciness of Chongqing comparing with SamYang Ramen

I was wondering? ;-)

I love SamYang Buldak Hot Ramen 3x spicy, but that is the maximum level of spiciness I can handle.

I found 4 spicy levels from Chongqing:

Non-Spicy (Qing Tang/ 清汤)

Mild Spicy (Wei La / 微辣)🌶️

Medium Spicy (Zhong La / 中辣)🌶️🌶️🌶️

Heavy Spicy (Te La / 特辣)🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️

what level do these SamYang compare to Chongqing?

It’s tough to give a definite answer because spice tolerance varies from person to person. Speaking only from my experience: it’s about medium spicy, and both are unbearable for me. I’ve got a little test for spiciness — if food is too hot to handle, I get hiccups. Both dishes triggered that. Something important about China: regional differences are huge. A “medium spicy” order in Chongqing is nothing like medium spicy in Hangzhou.
