From Suzhou to Wuxi: cost of car/taxi?

Two travellers are considering a one-way taxi or DiDi from Suzhou to Wuxi instead of the short high-speed train journey.

Hello. I'll be in Suzhou in October and then continuing to Wuxi. I know it is a short train journey, but as there will be two of us, I'm wondering whether we can get a taxi or private car without spending too much.

Does anyone know roughly what it costs, whether a car can be pre-booked, and whether a DiDi can go to Wuxi? To clarify: I only need a one-way journey, not a driver for the whole day. We will stay overnight in Wuxi.

It is doable, but I would not rely on one fixed price: cross-city DiDi fares vary with pickup point, vehicle type, traffic, tolls and demand. Check the live estimate in the app shortly before you travel, then compare it with two high-speed rail tickets.

For two people with light luggage, the train is usually the simplest option. A car can make sense if you have bulky luggage, a difficult hotel transfer, or simply want door-to-door convenience. Ask the driver through the app whether tolls are included before confirming.

You can read our high-speed rail guide and Amap and taxi guide before deciding.
