Which VPNs currently work in china?
blibliShared Aug 22, 2026I am travelling to China in September and I have seen some relatively new posts, around three months old, saying that most VPNs do not work in China because they are actively blocked. People also said the blocks are not very consistent, so I am wondering which ones will work for me.
An eSIM does not work for me because my phone does not support it.

I am using https://www.astrill.com/, and it works fine right now. Both the speeds and available servers are pretty good — I can watch Facebook videos without any issues.
Just to clarify, the Chinese government is mainly cracking down on VPN services operating within China. As long as you download a working VPN in your home country before arriving, it generally works fine in China, and nobody really bothers or stops you.
